Nadine On…This year’s Mantra

Historically, each year, I choose a mantra to pattern my life for that year. In year’s past it has been “Let it Go!,” followed by “Let it Go…Or Be Dragged!” Last year’s was “If you can’t say something positive, then at least be quiet.”
I should have blogged this yesterday, but in keeping with last year’s mantra I wanted to say something positive and I wasn’t sure just ‘what’ to say.
I have tried each year to stay with the chosen mantra. Some years have been more successful than others, I’ll admit. It’s almost always a struggle. And speaking of struggle, 2014 was definitely the ‘year of the struggle.’ I always struggle with my weight and last year, professionally speaking I struggled for about 6 months. But it’s a new year, new me and work has tabled off for the most part. At least until they hire a new supervisor, it’s status quo.
All that said…this year’s mantra is “Never be in a hurry, do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever; even if your whole world seems upset” ~ St. Francis de Sales.
And my word for this year is “diplomacy.”
Big shoes to fill, but I plan on giving it the old college try.
In addition to all of the usual plans of being a better wife/mother/daughter/friend, eating healthier and exercising more, taking better care of myself and others whom I love in general and keeping a better house;
I plan to take off this last 17 lbs. and finally find a way to keep it off,
I plan to write more. To finish my second book and have both books published,
I plan to grow and stretch some professional muscles through this year’s word, diplomacy,
And I plan to train with our new puppy, Karma, to do Search and Rescue.
And that’s enough. Any more and I would be in a hurry, loud and with a discombobulated spirit. I might lose my inner peace over anything. All totally incongruent with the mantra for the year.
Do you have a mantra? If so, please share in the comments.
If not, feel free to adopt mine.
Wishing you and yours, a year full of peace, love and trailer parks!
Yours slowly, quietly and with a calm spirit,
Nadine Bodine
Your very BEST friend in the whole wide world!
