Milestones are rarely achieved in giant steps. Not that it cannot be done. They are usually achieved by setting off in a direction and taking steps towards that goal.
Take this trailer park and the trailer park family for example. Like Rome, it wasn’t built in a day. This kind of perfection takes tenacity, overcoming ridiculous obstacles and virtually years to achieve.
Milestones don’t have to be large. You set a realistic goal and you achieve it. Note that word realistic. It’s important lest you wear yourself out and it no longer becomes fun. Then it is just a chore.
Last night a huge milestone was achieved! Driving on a dirt track, my baby cousin, Gabe Tucker, won his 100th seasonal win as a race car driver! What a fantastic lifetime achievement. A true milestone in his racing career. He is the IMCA’s 100th racer to get 100 wins. That is ‘Gabie-Baby’ (his trailer park name)pictured above.
You can set milestones or life can set milestones for you. Mawdine turned 75 this year! Another milestone.
Jose and I have collectively lost 37 pounds by eliminating sugar from our diet in just a few short months. Not huge, but it’s a milestone for us.
Many others in the trailer park have reached milestones this year too. I may have missed a few but would love to hear from you!
You, also, have milestones and goals. Maybe you have goals set that are not yet achieved? But you are taking baby steps towards those goals? Go you. Keep stepping. Stay the course.
Your road is most likely going to be rough, rocky and unpaved like Gabe’s. You may not get a clear track. I am willing to bet there are most likely going to be obstacles that get in your way or set you back. Few of us have a straight level path. Fewer still have the determination it takes to cross the finish line and get that checkered flag. But you’ve got to start somewhere, don’t you?
Don’t be afraid. Just take the wheel and drive like Hell till you get there!
Milestonely yours,
